Since Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha of Thailand, The Princess Rajasarini Siribajra has been hospitalised after collapsing and losing consciousness while running a dog in Pak Chong District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province, the overall condition is still stable, but more in concern. The Princess is being hospitalised in the Immediate Coronary Care Unit at Bhumisiri Mangkhalanusorn Building of Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital, Bangkok.
The Princess received the Balloon Angioplasty and her heart is still going well. However, she underwent a succeed operation due to Subarachnoid hemorrhage last night. Furthermore, the medical teams are using the Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) (also known as extracorporeal life support) an extracorporeal technique of providing prolonged cardiac and respiratory support to persons whose heart and lungs are unable to provide an adequate amount of gas exchange or perfusion to sustain life.
The technology for ECMO is largely derived from cardiopulmonary bypass, which provides shorter-term support with arrested native circulation. The device used is a membrane oxygenator, also known as an artificial lung. ECMO works by temporarily drawing blood from the body to allow artificial oxygenation of the red blood cells and removal of carbon dioxide.
The Princess is also suffering the ruptured aneurysm as a result of Intracerebral Hemorrhage occurred while running. Therefore, the most concerned part is her brain which is being kept monitoring together with her heart and lung operated by the ECMO. The Royal Household is expected to release further statement regarding to her health condition.
Their Majesties King Vajiralongkorn and Queen Suthida have made several visits the Princess, and also cancelled all public engagements. For the Princess’s public engagement at the graduation ceremony of the Rajabhat Universities in the northern territory which is set to be held on 20-27 December 2022, it has been confirmed that another royal representative will be present.
